I <3 Fruitcake Thread!

I have seen several postings on here about people feeding their chickens/pets/husbands fruitcake. Not me! I LOVE it - both the cake form and the cookie type. How many other people also like fruitcake?

I don't like fruitcake but I'm actually pretty sure it's because I've only had crappy fruitcake. It has all the ingredients I SHOULD love, but just tastes so funny and dense and weird.... I think if I made it myself and used my own finer liquors to soak it, I'd actually like the darn stuff.

Oh dear, this might be another of those cultural things I don't know about

All our fruitcakes are soakedin liquor for months before serving.

But some recipes I know you continue to pour brandy over the whole cake for a few months instead of just the fruit.

I haven't had any for a couple of years. But, there's this one kind of fruitcake that is more "cakey" than the others. I love that one and can eat it for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The other type, I can take or leave it, but I don't hate it.

I hate nuts and to me, those candied things they call fruit are just gross.

I put "On the fence" because there was not a catagory for "depends".

I like fruitcake that is moist and has lots of nuts and none of the bitter fruit. Oh and marinated in brandy.
