Once they have them the only way to really get rid of them is with chemicals. I do use sweet PDZ in the coop and run too. It helps keep it dry and smelling fresh.

PDZ is one of the only topics I actually understand on these forums lol but I'm working on it

My parents have a horse so I'm familiar with the product never thought to use it with the chickens but it's a great idea! Where do you get yours? Back home they sell it in the feed store but where I live my feed store is tiny and they don't have it! They don't have DE either, but I'm gonna check at a couple of nursery's maybe they will. No TSC here in far west TX sucks. Sorry for thread jacking guys I'll shut up now

Hi Colie-I'm your neighbor to the WAAAAYYYY Eastern part of Texas. No need to shut up-this thread is impossible to hijack.

But you have a new, fancy bator now

But duck eggs are very hard to hatch

And I want to see how well those bators work. I really like the looks of them.

Sunshine and 67 degrees. Beautiful!

Soooo me and my mom had a talk about the ducks and she said it would be for the best to sell them and stick to chickens. I said I have no problem with that as long as we find homes for the ducks and geese. (unless dad wants to butcher them

)

She said that I can order chicken eggs and hatch them if I wanted to... We've been talking about getting rid of the ducks for a very long time, I just wanted to try them out and see how it worked but it apparently didnt work out since mom doesnt like them ruining her flower gardens and with them getting there kiddie pool every day in spring/summer/fall it ruined the grass by the pen. Mom wants something small so my nephews wont get hurt and I have no problem with that and the neighbors have complained about the ducks and geese cause of the smell and how loud they are but havent complained about the chickens since they use to own chickens a long time ago.

Maybe its for the best

aww ducklover it will be ok! I'm sure you guys will find them some good homes! I didn't order any ducks today from ideal.It was very hard not to order them i was about to when hubby woke up and started looking at them with me. Hubby knows how much i enjoy hatching my babies so we did some research and he bought me three new thermostats for all three of my big homemade bators. Its a ReptiTemp 500r and it comes highly recommended for keeping the temps where they should be even if your room temp changes frequently like mine does. (dumb old house!

lol) Or if someone leave the space heater on to keep room warm after morning shower...

So i'm super excited about that! But i checked my eggs today and they were ALL fried!!
