I am aware of that Lee and i see it happen all the time.In both these instances tho there were no other birds around nor were the kids anywhere near any other birds.
He isn't a "holdable" bird. He hasn't been held since he was a pup.
I'll jist git it time.

Thanx Paula, once i got the fire out o' my eyes and the tatse of blood out of my heart i thot a bit and figgered jist that. Gen. T'so now has a new respect for me and a limp lol But i figger jist like you said that he jist needs to grow up and fully learn his place.
I'm not gonna make the kids stop givin treats, i'll jist let them do it for a while with me and a broom right beside them.
There is recently a situation of social disorder goin on out there with my birds and i realize that they all have to get everything re-established.
When we had our big BO roo, Brutus, he started going after the kids. We used Rooster Red's roo page, and it helped a lot.
What I would do is chase him down, and sometimes it took a while, but chase him down and hang him upside down. Then I'd lay him on his side on the ground, while holding his legs, and have the kids come over and pet him.
He got much better, and the kids weren't a target anymore.
And we LOVE Morgan. He's finally made all nice with the girls and is getting his daily quota.
Bertha still challenges him EVERY day, and as of yet, he's had no luck with her that I'm aware of.
I hope this all works out for you, he is indeed a gorgeous roo.
hi Em, glad to hear that Morgan's "gittin" his.
I'm confident that Gen.T'so will come around. I sure hope so, i can't afford the taxidermist right now. Would be a shame to waste such a beautifull bird carcass if he happens to "fall into the soup pot". lol
So, you can put a roo "down" like a dog ?
How did the pheasants make the adjustment ? I hope the move didn't cause too much stress.
Please tell Maggie and the wee one we said hi.
Oh ok, go 'head and tell hubby too lol.
Jim
The pheasants are wonderful. The one with the little duct tape bandage finally lost the little helmet, and it's head is healing beautifully.
I found that if you move slow while you're in their run, they remain pretty calm. We put some oak deadfall in with them for cover, and they're much happier now.
