I am angry and need to rant.

Get a deferment on the student loans, change your tax withholding to 9 so there will be 0 taxes with held (if you have kids you will not owe anything at the end of the year), and look outside the box for another job.
There are a lot of us with degrees that do not work in our field of study!

I've been deferring them, I have to reapply for deferments every 6 months.

Sigh. I'm just struggling. And by kids I mean pets. I don't have any human children so they won't matter.

I'm just depressed, having to live with my parents and work for a crap company to pay off my student loan debt.

Not getting anywhere. Can't save money, can't save for a car or a house. Can't have a decent relationship with a man.

I feel for you. Being an adult sucks---don't it.
What options have you considered?
Some young people broke that cycle by joining the Service. It's what I did several decades ago, got me out of being drafted, saw other cultures, learned a marketable skill. I wouldn't pay to do it over, but it did work.
My first car was paid for in cash after working for two years---I kept that vehicle for 25 years, learned all about diy auto mechanics.
Learned to save money by not spending on anything I didn't need------learning what I didn't need was hard.
My house was and is a fixer upper----learned about plumbing, electricity, window glazing, septic systems, roofing, concrete, etc. etc. etc.
Can't really tell you anything about a decent relationship with a man as I am one and have been married over 30 years----I think it has something to do with the phrase "Yes Dear"

Yeah, welcome to adulthood! Wallyworld is notorious for not treating their empoyees very well, ripping them off hours, vaca time etc.... Just one of the many reasons why I refuse to shop there. Keep bugging your managers for extra hours. Be your own advocate and keep on them about adding hours.

Keep looking and don't be afraid to apply for work that you think may be over your head or above your skills. I ended up getting a great job by appling for a job that I thought was over my head, it wasn't.

Unfortunately the new person was probably hired on at less than you are paid hourly. They can afford to have them work the full week, but can't afford you.
It is awful, and all too common in this country.

I hate to say this, but, I live in Alabama and this time of year all major retailers are hiring. granted it may be seasonal, but if you are good it can lead to full time. It is time to stop whining about things and get out there and sell yourself. You will not change the way things are until you pick yourself up, kick yourself in the arse and get out there.

My daughter started at Target, at Christmas time, moved up in the company, earned a degree while working there, also was raising 3 kids and a husband at the time. Now 3 years later she is an assistant manager at Walgreen's, earning double over what she started at Target. This is a tough economy, but if you really want to work, you can.

You are very young, to young to start blaming all life's problems on the *man*. You can do what ever you set yourself up to do. If you set yourself up for failure, you will not disappoint yourself! You actions can be a self-fulfilling prophecy.

I hate to attribute humane attributes to Walmart but maybe the newer employee that is getting more hours needs the money to pay rent or buy groceries for their children. Maybe they figure since you are living with your parents you can get by...

To the OP: I would use the time off meanwhile to explore the idea of acquiring new skills to get a career going. Nursing field is huge and pays very well. I think the schooling itself is 2 years. My sister floundered for years in jobs that she was yoyo-ed around with her hours and now she makes over $40.00 an hour with all the hours she wants.

I can't go back to school because my old school is holding my transcripts because I owe them money for my last semester. Until I pay that off I can not go into any other school, the law won't allow it, I've already tried.
