Meet Layla!
She/hešŸ˜’ is a 24 week (6 month) old Americana chicker.

No egg yet, but no crow, tidbit, or mounting either.
Whenever I pick it up, it does all kinds of squawking, but sounds more female.
My last Americana had a curved green tail, and she laid gorgeous blue eggs.
So, I didn’t let that one discourage me yet.

Yesterday my dad was looking at her and he was like, ā€œyou know that’s a rooster, right?ā€
ā€œWhat??? No! I’ll ask on BYCā€

Then I noticed the hackle feathers.

Here are some pics:

This one looks alot like Biscuit. A BYM cockerel that hid out with the girls for 6 months. I finally took notice when he started mounting the pullets. Then I saw the wispy, but well blended, hackle feathers and the slight bit of red leakage on his wings.

Compared to his brother Cookie's dark hackles and early and significant red leakage
