I am at my whit's end---6yo still wetting bed

Getting mad and making threats only adds to his anxiety. Never , never berate a bed wetting child. Some children take longer than others and there are a multitude of reasons. I would however discuss it with your pediatrition with out you sons knowledge. I would however buy a wetting pad for adults and put it under him.

Explain to him that even some adults have this problem not just "babies". Take the pressure off and reassure him of your love. The worse thing you can do is get mad. Move the time with out drinks up to 2.5 hours and please, please don't discuss this publicly with family. Somethings should be private and this is one. Try to find a reason. Whatever it is accept it and deal with it kindly and privately.

Please listen to Rancher. The worst thing in the world is to be angry at this child, he can't help it, he will outgrow it - so help him outgrow it without the scars an angry mother can leave on a child (trust me on this one, my brother was a bedwetter, and my mother didn't handle it well at all).

I know what you mean about the size, my daughter is definitely not obese by any means, but towards the end (the past yr) we resorted to buying small size adult Depends, but they were even more than the Pull-ups so I bought the generic brand, not actual Depends. Still was super expensive if you ask me, but at least she wasn't fussing that they were tight. I don't think there is an easy solution to the wetting problem, just have to tough it out.

OK really I would appreciate THOROUGH reading of my posts. I dont yell at my child or berate him for this, I am very gentle with him, I'm just upset inside. My main concern is not wanting him to be embarassed, does that sound like a mom reacting badly???

My son is almost 8 and is on meds for bedwetting. He started them about 1.5 years ago and they really have helped. I am slowly decreasing his dose now to see how he does with less.

I am going to check out the dollar store or generic brands....I can not see paying for a box of Depends! YIKES!

NO! You are like us! We all go thru this right now so you are not alone in silent frustrations. We just have to be strong and understanding that it will pass one day and before we know it, she will be dry all night long for months and years ahead!

Walmart carries an underpant called "goodnights" I am pretty sure they fit older kids. They are not that expensive, and they are much better looking than a diaper, for an older child, and look almost like shorts. I haven't bought them, but my daughter is getting there. She just turned 4 and is potty trained for daytime, but has to wear pull ups at night. My stepson would wet the bed early in the morning out of laziness because he didn't want to get up and then he would just go back to sleep and let it dry.

Then again he would wet himself when he was awake, and just let it dry. His case is way different from most because he was just being lazy. What stopped it was us making him take a shower every time he wet himself. He got the idea pretty quick.
