Honestly...it's not her fault that the eggs were broken and it's not her place to send extra "security" eggs.
Now...as to advertising 12+ eggs for each breed...I would have assumed that 12 eggs would be Cochin and 12 eggs would have been Araucana. THAT would result in negative feedback if I had bought them.
I'll have to disagree with ya here
Unless that box was destroyed, and arrived intact, then I DO believe the seller is responsible for the breakage as they didn't pack properly. I have had broken eggs arrive, mostly because part of the box was squished or the box was punctured. I didn't hold those sellers responsible, the PO's mishandling caused the damage. I also had a box arrive completely intact and 3/4 were broken. Luckily it was a wonderful person and only charged me for the intact dry eggs I got.
Also they said 12+, the + is usually the extras that people send to make up for mishandling etc
I would file a claim and don't toss anything out yet. I haven't returned anything but don't you need to return it to get your refund? I would find out and get my $$ back....
I agree wholeheartedly with KLF73. That is ridiculous. I have shipped my Ameraucana eggs all over this country and rarely to I have a broken egg and never more than one and that was when a box was pretty much crushed on one side. I always send extra eggs and I have even made folks a deal on a second bunch of eggs when they didn't get a decent hatch rate or development rate. Now I hope I ain't getting myself in trouble by saying that as I don't want a bunch of folks ordering eggs from me and then telling me they all had ruptured egg cells but I doubt that's gonna happen because I think most folks abide by The Golden Rule.
Most certainly the
Ebay'er should have tried to make it right. I would definitely leave a Negative Feedback if they aren't willing to work something out and I'd make a PayPal complaint if that was used.
Having said all that, let this be a lesson to all of us and get the word out to others. Caveat Emptor - and do lots of homework before spending your hard earned dollars.
God Bless,
