I am so mad...I could....I could....

I am sorry that you are upset, but you can't just judge anyone who takes care of pests on their property as a bad or heartless person. Be it a raccoon, squirrel, cat or dog or otherwise.

Just because the cat does not bother with your chickens, doesn't mean he does not try to disturb someone's livestock. Keep in mind, it could be someone's lively hood. If he came on my property, and I didn't know where he came from, he'd be chased (lucky for him I cannot discharge weapons on my property), but my dogs would give him a run-for. He could carry disease or have rabies. You may know he is fine, but the person whom land he trespassed on may not. I hear rabies shots are both painful and expensive.

Good luck with your cat.

Oh my gosh!! That's horrible! UGH It makes me so mad to think people shoot pets for fun:mad:

Hang in there, Kiki will be okay! Just spoil him rotten for the next few days.

My dog got hit by a car last year, his pelvis was broken in three places, and they were saying they'd have to amputate his leg. I didn't have the money for some of the procedures, and really didn't want to amputate his leg. I put him on pain pills and spoiled him rotten. Loved on him and pet him and even did "energy healing".

In a few days he was walking, and now a year later is perfectly fine....he can still outrun me in the farm truck.

We'll be thinking of you and Kiki!!!

Thanks everyone.....mind you, this is not "my cat" just a stray that we have come to take care of. He sleeps in the coop....eats mice...and purrs like an outboard motor. Even the vet said.. " I wanted to listen to his heart, but cant hear it over the purring" Even injured..he still purrs. Such a sweet little guy.

I think you are getting ahead of yourself here. I'd take care of any animal that comes in my yard and displays any sort of aggressive pose (that includes destroying my property). I have dogs myself and believe me, they are not allowed off the property.

I should also point out that 'taking care' of the problem is a lot less hustle and not as costly as setting traps and/or dealing with animal control.

Again, don't call people names. It's not becoming.

And as far as blaming the animal not the owner: if the animal dies because it does something stupid, then it is truly and only the owner's fault for letting it do whatever it did. So yes, if someone shoots an animal for being a pest on their property, you can squarely put the blame on the owner of the animal in question.

Well I feel for you, but I also live in the country. One of the BIGGEST animals that destroy wild life is cats. I like cats, dont get me wrong, but they get dumped ALOT and wind up living off of rabbits, squirrels, quail, baby turkeys, etc. and cause big damage to the birds hatch rates which most Conservation agencies are trying to boost. Therefor some people just shoot wild cats/ dogs. I know this cant wasnt wild, but they more than likely just saw a cat and shot it. I will admit, I have shot dogs running deer and cows. If you live in the country , (atleast around here) if you see a wild dog and you dont know who it belongs to and its chaisin deer or cattle, shoot it. I try to call the people who own the dogs if I know whos it is a tell them what they are doing, if I see them again I scare them off, if they keep coming back, game over.

Sorry to hear about your cat. I hope he gets better. He is cute.
