I am so pissed! sorry about the language!

Sorry to hear about your missing hens. Get a game cam or something. Without having proof someone stole them it's just a guess. Anything is possible, not ruling out theft, but could be a number of things.

Thanks again everyone for all the love. I really do appreciate it. Got the game cam today and so now waiting for hubby to get home and install it for me. I also went and got 2 new laying hens. I got a wyandotte and a Leghorn.

That's awful! I'm glad you posted your story though because I've got a co-worker who suspects someone stole her rooster. He was a very pretty Easter Egger. Now I'll consider TWO legged predators when making sure my girls are secure at night not just four. It's not too hard to add a padlock to the design we've got in mind. I'd be devastated if someone stole my hens.

People can be just awful.

2 legged preds are pretty bad for a few reasons. If they have their own chickens they bring in unfamiliar pathogens to your flock. My girls are secure and their area is secured also- motion lights, 100lb barking dog, and by an almost 2 acre electric net fence! It's hard to see at night. Extra Highly powered too

We have locks on our entrance doors first due to neighbor children and then due to desperate hungry people.

Yes. That's a hard one. I was always told that if they stole if from you, because they had no choice but to sin to save their own life, you should forgive immediately.
I doubt that's the case with OP's chickens though - they took the little ones - likely to keep as their own pet. They had to go far from her road and close to her house. Bad Bad Sad
