I am so sad and no one understands

We all certainly understand here, and mourn with you.

I use the post-hole digger and make a deep hole at the drip-line of a tree or bush to place the remains of my departed chicken friends. It gives me comfort to know that they are now nourishing the soil and contributing to the growth of something beautiful, and in that way, they continue to live. And the deep narrow hole discourages other animals from digging them up.

I too am very sorry for your loss.

I understand completely and have an off topic short note. I had gotten two chicks from the local hatchery downtown and I was so proud of those little peeps, my husband thought I was nuts, but after pleading my case and promising him eggs, I got to keep them. About a week ago I had noticed one of them starting to get beefier than the other, and the comb was getting larger. I had made arrangements to go to a farm and the lady said she'd take a look at them, and confirmed my fears. Little Wilamina was a William:( She let me leave him there with with the promise of not eating him. I loaded Chickpea back into the truck and cried most of the home. He was a good little rooster, but I know that he will be able to crow and get it on with the ladies as he pleases.. I can feel your loss and it will get better as the days pass.
