I am sooooo divorced....FINAL UPDATE pg 11 ***Photos***

Quote:
Does she ever open her eyes? If not make sure they are not sealed shut. Try to get her to open her eyes, if she does not, take some warm water on the tip of your finger....sometimes the membrane from hatching seals up stuff like nostrils, eyes, ears. makes them run around crazy till it is off of there. Kind of messes up their equilibrium.

Yes, she opens them and even cheeps but does not seem to have any control over where she goes. She hates being in the heat for some reason. I can get her to drink by dipping her beak but I can't get her to eat. I simply do not know what to do.

Final Update:

Thought I was going to lose little Ginger all day, but after feeding her liquid food (starter mash completely watered down) all day, every 15 minutes, she is running around her little brooder like a mad chicken!

She has been chasing cat hair (the cats have been keeping a close eye on her) and jumping like crazy. She is eating and drinking on her own too

I fear she is spoiled though since all she wants me to do is hold her, lol. It was worth it

I have decided that even if she turns out to be a he, I'm keeping her. I cannot part with her/him.

I hope to be able to put her back in with the other banties (9 of them now in total, lol yes, I made another run to the feed store) tonight and yes, I did order pizza and picked up some beer. Lol I won't share if I meet him at the door naked or not

Thank you everyone for your kind thoughts and all the laughs in this thread

I will probably be meeting you there too here soon once my husband finds out how many more chicks we have on the way. He didn't want chickens in the first place, but I went and got 14 chicks last week and ordered 12 silkies. Well, yesterday I stopped by to check on my order and picked out 8 more, uh oh. I couldn't fight the fuzzy butts cuteness. LOL

Glad Ginger is coming along. It was worth the extra effort.

Love the action shot! They are so adorable at that stage.
