I am sorely DISPLEASED!!

The horse auctions sicken me the most. I've seen the worst photos, and cried and had nightmares (I don't even usually dream). Horses are more like huge dogs to me even more than chickens and I can't see how anyone can treat them that way.

Some very famous race horses ended this way is that really good payment for all they did? People are cruel and only care about money, I despise and spit on these people they deserve to die the same way or worse.

We have a lot of animal and consignment auctions around here, and I have NEVER seen anything like you all are describing. There were some roosters with crooked toes, that is the worst thing I have seen.

Either they arent all that bad, or I still look at them like livestock, not pets.

Bu I wouldnt feel any worse if any of those animals I had seen were dogs or cats, they just werent that bad.

Those of you that have 'good' auctions where you are should count yourselves lucky. One reason that I almost never send my birds through the auction part of ours is that this is the #1 place for people to dump their sick birds. I don't even walk through the auction barn, and any birds I take with me stay on the truck. If prices are good, or I really need to 'unload' something, then I'll send them through the sale. Anything of mine that goes into the sale barn does not come back home...period

I sure agree about the disease, I bought one rooster at auction once, and now I realize how stupid I was. I stuck him right in with the others and was VERY lucky not to have any problems.

I know a lot more now, and I dont plan to bring any new birds on my property withou a quarentene. And I cant spell that word today either.

One thing I have noticed, even if the birds are treated better, the sanitation is still an issue. They are just not carefull.
