I am still debating.....Doms or RIR RCs?

A lot of people hear "Washington" and automatically think of wet & temperate Seattle. We're 5 1/2 hours away from Seattle, over several mountain passes. We have rattlesnakes, sagebrush and wildfires here.

We almost lost our house in 2009 to the Oden Road Fire (this is our house):

Two years to the day (this summer)--we almost lost our home again in another fire:

Yeah it's the ONE thing I HATE about living here....the almost constant summertime threat of fire.

The Oden Road Fire was started by lightning. The one in August of this year was started by an unlicensed, uncontracted, uninsured drug addict that was working on the 100+ year old schoolhouse (re-roofing) behind our house.

He threw some metal roof scraps off the roof, which hit powerlines, knocking them down into the dry grass and starting a fire.

They sure are cute...I've never heard of them...do you have photos of the adult birds? Are they game birds?

Sorry if I'm getting a little off topic, they are McGraw chicks. I believe Dr. Albert McGraw bred them to resemble game fowl. Here is the thread on them: https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=7061605

Here is a picture of some nineteen week old McGraws, their tails are still growing in.

Interesting....how large are they at maturity? Do they lay brown eggs? How long does it take them to lay or crow?

I have heard that they are about the size of Ameraucanas at maturity. They lay blue eggs. Mine have not started laying yet but the roosters have been crowing for quite a while.
