Oh my gosh! That is nasty!!!

I can't even imagine!

I am a new person to hatching eggs so no, i have never had the experience!(And I hope i never do!)

And no, I'm not laughing at you, i'm laughing with you LOL LOL LOL LOL!!!!

That is one of the nastiest smells!
I was helping my father-in law clean his coop, dropped on on my new boots, nothing got the smell out.
Thanks for sharing such a funny story. Sure brightened my day!

my oldest daughter was checking out the eggs in the incubator...one looked funny...it exploded on her and her two little sisters.....fortunately we incubate in a bathroom so clean up was easy..place kids in shower and hose off! but I had to wash the little ones hair 3 times to get rid of the smell....now they aren't so anxious to touch the eggs and thank God it didn't explode in the incubator!

I got lucky with mine!! I had a hen setting, and when she left the nest, I brought the rest of her eggs in. Well dad did, and I noticed the smell right away. I candled the eggs, and found the bad one, and told my dad it was no good. He proceeds to SHAKE IT, and then tell me to! I was totally dodging him, and saying he;; no! I don't want it to blow up on me! It didn't blow, thank God, but that would have been the most hilarious thing!!

OK... stating it for the newbies... if you smell anything odd, check each egg...candle, do a sniff test, whatever you have to do to find the offending egg. If the egg starts weeping (sap-like oozing), don't wait - get it out right away. If, by any chance, you have the morbid desire to open it and see what it looks like... God forbid that you open it in the house.

I had over 100 coturnix eggs in the incubator, and over the course of a week the smell got worse and worse. My husband and I pulled out each egg, looked it over, and sniffed them. One by one. We found 15 eggs that were either cracked or oozing... he almost

over one of them. (I laugh now, but I was smelling rotten eggs for days...........

)
