I Am Trying To Read Twilight And I Already Hate Bella

If you like vampire novels I also recommend Laurell Hamilton's first few Anita Blake novels. After the first few, you will need a great tolerance for the increasingly strange sex life of the main character. I liked those books better when she still hated vampires.

For the target audience of tweeners who read Twilight, there are hosts of great books.

LOL...I'm far too old to have read the Twilight series, but I did anyhow, and I loved them.

But my workmate, whom I carpooled with, felt exactly as you did...she HATED Bella. Hated that she was so whiny, felt that she "played" Jacob, etc., etc., etc. Of course that didn't stop her from reading them all...lol. I didn't hate the Bella character. I guess I could indentify with her feelings of inferiority from my days of youth. And I did grow up in a small, gossipy community, so a new kid at my high school did draw a lot of attention. Anyhow, I enjoyed the fantasy of it...of course I loved comic books and super heros growing up...

so anything dealing with special powers/abilities draws my attention.

The True Blood Sookie Stackhouse series was decent if you like the vampire type books...a bit more graphic sexually though.

i hate reading, so i haven't read the books. i am into the movies. what i don't like about bella is that she's so in love with edward, he leaves, then it's all about jacob, edward comes back and she just drops jacob. kinda sad for jacob. i am team edward. lol. i am wearing my new moon tee with a picture of edward. i am in love with robert pattinson. i hate kristin stewart, she's a horrible, horrible actress and i hate her hair. it looks like she never takes a shower. but i too don't really like bella much. i was wondering why she gets a lot attention myself. she's not that wonderful. and how does a shy person feel comfy with vampires and warewolves, that's just stupid! but i do think i need to read the books, i keep hearing they are better than the movies (but i can't stare at robert pattinson

) lol we'll seeee.

My daughter tried to get me to read these books but for some reason I resisted. Then she had me watch the movie with her and all I could think was "what drivel". I found it totally uninteresting. I didn't care enough about any of the characters to have an interest in what happened in the movie. Yuk. I don't get why this was such a huge sensation. I must be old.

I prolly ought to read them since most of my (female) students have, but I just....can't.....bring.....myself......Oh, look! Harry Potter!

I am beginning to respect Rowling a lot. Hermione Granger was annoying with her know it all attitude but Rowling was aware of her character's flaws. She also made it apparent that Granger cared for her friends and loved ones. This combination of faults and strengths made Hermione interesting.

I think that if Bella actually acted as though she cared for other people, she would not annoy me as much. Being shy does not mean that you are self absorbed.
