I am watching the original True Grit

Remember books? Are you KIDDING me??? I have a Kindle and I read at LEAST 4 books a week. My Kindle is new best friend.

Ken and I love old movies, and I have read enough here to know that we will wait til it is on HBO or one of those channels.

I've seen both movies, and I didn't mind to much the remake. The language is pretty much the same, some of the scenes have been changed and some new one added, but the acting was exceptional, particularly the young girl who played Mattie Ross. My only disappointment was the ending. Other than that I think it was a pleasant watch.

Usually I dislike any remakes that are not true to the original, or movies made after a book that will only butcher the book, like Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. It was very painful for me (an avid fan of Jane Austen), to watch the 2005 version of Pride and Prejudice with Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen after I have read the book and after I have seen the 1995 version with Jennifer Ehle and Colin Firth (that was my favorite), and the 1980 version with Elizabeth Garvie and David Rintoul in witch case both versions where true to the book. It can spoil a favorite movie or a book, but sometimes, I think, it can give you a refresh look to an old book or movie, as long is not to far from the original.
In my case after I watch the 2005 Pride and Prejudice with Keira Knightly several times I came to like it, even thou is so different than the book and not "period accurate" in costumes.

I went to see the movie being very skeptical figuring I wouldnt like it, but I must say, I thought the young girl in the new one did an absolutely amazing job, and Jeff Bridges played Rooster Cogburn really well. I think they changed the new one enough so you weren't watching the exact same movie while still leaving the story line alone. They were also able to change a few scenes so they were more realistic (like having a few scenes happen at night). I also agree with everyone else though and was not happy with the ending, I really felt like it ended the movie on the wrong note.
