Hurray!!! It is beautiful! Isn't it amazing what us women can do? I've felt pretty good about my husband moving out when he left all his tools! HAHAHAHA!!! I did however begged him for help with the wall and floor and now that I'm comfortable with the tools I wish I had done that on my own too...
Haha thanks everyone!! I can't believe how much fun I'm having building this... all I keep thinking about is what I want to build next!
These chickens will love the new home, I'm sure they are getting tired of the Extra Large Dog Cage! I'm hoping to get alot done this weekend. I started to do the final wall last night and I accidently stepped (barefooted) on the very edge of the plywood and it jammed a 1/2 splinter into the corner of my big toe
I thought at first I was unscaved but as I felt the pressure mounting in my toe I knew something was wrong!! Needless to say I finally was able to get it out and once I did the blood gushed out~ haha I really thought my daughter was going to pass out!!! She ran to get her brother "Mom's hurt Brandon~Mom's Hurt!!" He came to see and I just looked at him and said~ I think I will make it through the night
LOL My kids are so sweet~ But I did stop for the night! My toe is fine today so I must have gotten it all out. But I will be back on it tonight! Maybe with shoes this time?!
I will post more pics for ya'll once more progress is made.
You know after reading all the stories about the predators getting into the coops it made me consider alternative ways of reinforcing the openings in the coop! I don't know if I told you what I used for the screen door but I actually ended up using a metal "kickplate" designed to go at the base of your door but it is very solid~ nothing could get through that. I screwed that into the plywood to make a ventilated door on one side of the coop. The screen holes are small enough the birds can't stick their beaks through it and small enough a predator can't reach in! And it will allow for a nice breeze. Just a suggestion if anyone has trouble with predators~ so many people say chicken wire is a def. NO NO! So this may be a good alternative.
what an awesome coop! cant wait to see the final product! Hey you made a job for yourself, maybe you should make another one. Make it so that it can be easily assembled by someone else when they buy it! also if you don't mind me asking how much have you spent to build it and the size, please. really good work!

Haha you made me laugh~ especially about the tools!! My ex had no use of them at all~ the only miles put on those things were put on by me!!
I'm glad you feel more comfortable with them now! I did have to have my brother show me how to use the skil-saw before I started this! I never used one of those before in my life, and quite honestly it kinda scared me! But we layed out a peice of plywood and he showed me how to line it up and hold it steady and squeeze the trigger. Haha the first couple of times I jumped because my wrists are small so I had to get use to it's power! But after a few cuts I got it done pretty good. Plus mine has a laser light (which I love). It doesn't hurt to ask for help! I will need help once I go to put the walls on out back to, I don't know if I can hold it up there and get them drilled down all by myself. We'll see

Thanks!! I'll have to let you know once it's over~ Haha Honestly I haven't been keeping track of time. In between kids, pets, work, and chores I run out to the garage to work on it
This is the first time building something like this to, so I am taking my time measuring everything 2x's before I cut it! That would be cool if I could manufacture a coop~ LOL
