That would present a problem. I cannot slaughter one of my babies and yet I understand that they dont live long and arent much good for anything else. It makes me sick to think about it....

I don't think it's a meatie, the feathers are too nice looking. I think it's just a standard among bantams!!!

That cracks me up.... It looks so out of place!

He is rather large! He was in with the SR chicks. There were several of them that size in there and the clerk made the remark "we got some big ones this time"....Im keeping my fingers crossed that hes not a meatie.

Um, Honey, they are chickens. Didn't you know that when you bought them?

Yes, first picture IS adorable, as is the last. Don't let them see those when they get older or they may peck your eyes out. Then again, when they get to be teenagers and they are both boys, you can use them as blackmail pictures. Just sayin'

Kidding aside, the first looks like a RIR to me. The big white one does look like a meatie to me too. You will know in due time though.
Good luck fighting the addiction. As for me, I have decided to go with it and not fight it, it is much more fun this way

If the feed store guy said it that way, it kinda sounds like they might be "packing peanuts" and probably roosters

but you won't know for sure till it's older

Meatie birds grow faster than they feather, so on a "big" looking chick they have sparse, prickly looking feathers that stick out everywhere. The one in the pic looks smooth feathered, like a regular chicken. I just don't think it has the meatie look about it.
