I just used a tiny dab of elmers to hold the bows in place while photographing

The little black ones look solid black. They MIGHT be australorps. Maybe black sex links? The day-old australorps I just got (week old now) are yellow-bellied and have yellow/white tips on a couple of their feathers and under their chins. I HOPE mine are actually aussies, as I chose that breed specifically. If I wind up with barred rocks or something cuz the hatchery screwed up, Im gonna be a tad bit angry.

heres a mediocre pic of one of the australorps I just jot earlier this week...you can see the amount of yellow (s)he has on the belly/chin

edited for pic size. Smaller is easier to see because it was taken on my phone

I think my husband would re-think my sanity if I did that to our chicks... although with 2 little boys and no girls, I'm dying for some frilly, girlie stuff!!!!

And I agree with everyone else... don't fight the urge, just go with it... much more fun that way!!!! Congrats on the new babies

I didnt leave the bows on-just for the pics! Am I the only one here that has done something like this? I must be, judging from the reaction it got! Oh well....I dress my dogs up on occasion too;)

I revived this post to ask a question....the big white one that some thought was a meatie..well Im still not sure what he is. This picture doesnt do him justice..hes huge! Between him and one other I call "Big Red", well they rule the roost! So what do ya'll think now? Meatie or not????

I did manage to keep a pair of meaties alive for a couple of years. I had never owned meat birds before and got Mr and Mrs Meatie with a flock of mixed layers. They were 8 months old at the time. They lived another year and a half on layer pellets and free range. The Mrs layed an egg every other day for me and Mr tended all the layers. Mrs died when a fox got her and Mr died when he started over eating and got too big.
