DH and I spent hours last night planning our layout and set up, plus the timeline for what gets done so that we can move the birds out of the swingset coop & tractor to use the old buildings as parts for the rest of the shed transformation.

This means I can have all my breeding quads in seperate pens.

And it means I can turn on the incubator again soon!!!!!!!

Course, it has to quit raining so the shed can be delivered, and that could take days. Days of

as I watch weather reports and

.

But we got a good deal, and DH said we couldn't have built a shed as sturdily for any less. And the time & stress this is saving us in enormous. My goal is to have the birds moved in mid-September, and the complete re-fit done by Thanksgiving.
And then!

AND THEN!!

I will see if I can find a pic online. Ours hasn't been delivered yet.

Check independent shed dealerships, MUCH better prices and workmanship than big box stores (Lowes, HD, etc). Ours was a repo, so there are oil stains on the floor, and some other cosmetic issues (all easy to fix). BUT it also has a partial loft already built, and shelves that we can use once we move them where we want them.

We plan to switch to a nipple watering system, with a tank that will collect rain run-off from the roof of the shed. Plus automatic feeders. I'm VERY excited about all this!

As soon as the drawings are finalized for the interior I'll be happy to post them. The 10' end away from the doors will be for the LF layers. The rest will be for my featherfeet breeders. So it may not be practical for everyone. But I will be happy to share!!

Here's a website for the company that we got our shed from:
http://oldhickorybuildings.com/index.php

Ours is the 10x16 utility model with double doors.
Ours was made in TN, so I feel like we bought local. Gave me an extra smile!

Best part is that it can come with us if/when we ever move. So there will be no wasted investment in setting it up EXACTLY how I want it! I don't ever plan to move far from where I'm at now. Just to a place with more land, if we can.

We'll cover the floor with tarpaper, and then lay self-stick floor tiles over the top of the paper. We'll paint the walls white, for added light. We'll also add a couple of windows (double-paned small ones from Lowe's are $20). Eventually I will dig a trench and we'll lay wire for power to the coop.

I looked at the link you sent me and they don't have the same company in my area.

Hopefully one day I'll have my own dream breeder's coop.

I am currently not-so-patiently wating for the ground to dry out enough that our shed can be delivered.

More rain due Wed/Thurs, so if we don't get it delivered Tues then it will probably be next week. We have been making lists of things to get right away, things to get for Stage 2, and the order in which we will do prep work.

I am ready to quit making lists and just get busy!!!
