I Burned My Face and Have to Go To Work Tomorrow!

Zinc oxide which is sold as diaper rash cream is best! We had some teenaged guests get jiggy with a bonfire & zinc oxide was suggested by a family member who is a doctor. Interestingly, it is also an ingredient in Oil of Olay...

Please see a dr. If it's 2nd degree you probably don't want to use tape to hold a bandage on. It can cause more damage. And yes it may continue to get worse. When I burned myself I looked like a mummy for about 4 weeks. The drs taught me to bandage my head without tape. Then I looked like frankenstein for about 2 weeks, when I had to leave it open to air. If the skin is coming off you probably need to remove the dead flesh 2-3 times a day, and wash with diluted hydrogen peroxide. On the good side there may be no or little pain. I had none.

Imp-Seriously 2nd degree burns on the face are not time to experiment with home remedies. Get thee to an ER.

Also, if you have any lidocaine, that will work. Nothing will cure it faster...this is somethin that will have to heal on its own so you might as well just tell ppl the truth as to what hpnd. LOL

I have to agree with Imp- I didn't realize the extent. Medical intervention is called for here. Even a "Doc in a Box" will have the proper care. DO NOT wait, get moving.

Lidocaine is a numbing agent, not a healing agent. It does not heal at all.

And never use it on chickens!

OK, I found my aloe gel and have applied it. If this seems worse or not much better tomorrow I will see what the doctor says. I had no idea a poke would amount to this, while it is not half of my face (so sorry to hear about your injury Imp) it is about an inch across with half of the skin peeled and the rest looks white and well, I am assuming, dead.

I wasn't saying to use lidocaine to heal...its to relieve it from the pain. I meant that there's nothing that will heal a burn quickly. When DH burned his hand really bad and went to dr, they told him it has to heal on its own but there were things that would help with the pain. MIL uses beated egg whites, which in DH opinion works better than anything else.

id wrap my whole head up and walk in dazed and confused and just say you got burned

well, id do the head wrap and just go to work and not worry what others have to say;)

Sorry, I misinterpreted! And yes, lidocaine will help the hurt go away. But I sure wish you see a Doc- and I don't see Docs until I'm desperate. I'm allergic to them, as well as feathers!
