Hi, Sarah. I am brand new to chicken fatherhood, and I would love to know the breed and sex of my chicks. All 8 of these chicks were sold as "barnyard mix" and should all be between 6 and 8 weeks old. I posted 2 pictures of each. So, what do you think?

Those chicks look like they are maybe 5 weeks old at most. The first two are cockerels (whole lot of comb development for such young chicks) probably from an Olive Egger project. You've got quite a few Silkie mixes. Might some Orpington in a few. The last couple might be second generation Welsummer/Marans crosses.

Too young to be sure. But 12and 5 look like roosters.. Post again in a few weeks

I have three Black Australorps that are all the same age. This one is far more mature than the other two. Just wanted to be sure it's a "she". I thought my first egg came from this one, but it turns out that it was from one of my Rhode Island Whites.
