Unless it was specifically bred that way, there is no way to tell it's gender at this age.Thank you! That is what I have read also. I just have one that has wings that look very different from the others. I’m not sure 100% on the breed but I think she is a white laced Wyandotte? 1 week 2 days.
The lighter one is most likely a cockerel, the others look like pullets so far.View attachment 1339311 View attachment 1339275 View attachment 1339274 I
have 3 Barred Rock chicks. They are all 3 supposed to be hens (I got them as sexed hens)... could you give me your opinion please
The 1st one is all of them and the other pic is the same chick but she is more feathered. They are about 4 weeks now...
Thanks in advance.
Blue Marans
There are two very different amounts of feathers on these 2 week olds. These two are the same age.

Unless they were specifically bred to have the cockerels slow-feathering and the pullets fast-feathering, there is no way to tell gender at this age.I didn't mean to post that above photo yet. I meant to include these as well. These are two examples, I have several of each. Combs are not identical among each feather amount, but I will show these two examples and see what your thoughts are.

I still think the silkie might be a cockerel, but I'm less confident on the deathlayer. The others look like pullets as of now.And here are pics of my juvenile flock. They are all roughly 7-10 weeks.
