How do you all launder your baby items? I've always used Dreft, but with my last baby I started wondering why... when we hold them they snuggle up on OUR clothes, which are laundered in regular detergent. I'm washing the stuff I bought yesterday (because it has been in storage and doesn't smell fresh, and I can't stand that.

) in Gain. I'm going to put it through a second rinse, to make sure the detergent gets washed out really well. Anyone use regular detergent with their little ones? Knowing me, I might change my mind and wash the stuff again in Dreft before he gets here.

i used ivory snow for my first and second..but after that, i just washed it with everything else.
since this is my last though, i think ill use the special baby soap again..it smells so good!
i love gain though, the tropical breeze scent. i didnt like it when i was first pregnant though, it made me sick as a dog.

I've never understood the point of special baby soap. And I'm not organized enough to keep up with special soap just for baby clothes.

We use All or Purex free and clear detergents because I have really sensitive skin, so I figure those will be fine for baby items. Worse comes to worse if the baby gets a rash DH can go out and by special baby soap! I used a regular free and clear detergent for my DD's infant clothes and it was fine.

I'm getting close to 28 weeks now. I have never started feeling good during this entire pregnancy, so I'm ready to feel human again! I'm already entering my psychotic nesting phase...and I'm planning what I need to sew for the baby. I'm taking a bunch of cute onesie's I'd saved from DD and cutting them off and sewing them into little t-shirts because we cloth diaper and onesies are a huge pain to me to unsnap all the time! I'm boycotting snaps for this baby's infancy. DH says he's relieved because for DD he could never do up the snaps right.

I'm also going to sew myself some postpartum pads. I use cloth pads normally because the disposable kind give my sensitive bits a scary scary rash, lol. Cloth feels SO soft and comforting down there on your sore lady bits after birth, it's a million times better than the plastic disposable pads that stick to your delicate areas. (They are really easy to use too, I just throw them in the wash every couple of days with a few drops of detergent and a little vinegar, put them on a cold soak for a few hours and rinse, then a regular hot wash with an extra rinse and dry them in the dryer. No stains or anything! Sometimes I wash them with the cloth diapers.)

I'm planning on making matching sets of cloth pads and breast pads, just for fun. I want to do them in an owl print.

I have some cloth pads already and they are a Harry Potter print!

ok...i have decided to give breastfeeding another try!
can i still drink caffeinated beverages?? how do i do this and be discreet around my older (teenage) children..i dont want either of us to be embarrassed! my husbands coworker said she lost a bunch of weight while breastfeeding, and i am wondering if this is also true.

i am going to start on my little ones quilt next week and make him a few of these for when it gets hot outside.

i love diaper shirts on babies, they are so precious..but they dont sell them anymore except at specialty stores for ridiculous prices.

I don't breastfeed to lose weight, I do it because it is so convenient (always ready!) and it's FREE! You can take a lightweight blanket and throw over the baby once he gets latched on good. I would stay away from caffeine while breastfeeding. Also, you might want to take it easy on spicy foods, onions, garlic, etc. - at least until the baby gets a little age on him. Best wishes with it!

I always breastfeed for a year even when I am working by pumping the milk. It is really much easier and a lot more economical. It is healthy for the baby and me. I never have to worry about germs or recalls.
I am not skin sensitive so laundry detergent does not bother my skin and usually not the babies either. Dreft and other "baby" soaps might have been better years ago when laundry soap was very harsh. Now days most detergents are not harsh to the skin but still get the stains out. Do be careful of using soap on children's clothes because the soap undermines the flame resistance of the clothing. Detergents are OK but not soaps.
Aunt Flo and I have never gotten along. I have an extremely sensitive hormone system. I can't use most hormone birth control. That's why I am working on baby number 8.

DH is going to take care of that before the baby is born this time. I am really to old to still be making babies.
