I Can't Believe the size of this Coturnix Egg!! and 1 Neat One...

Quite a difference in egg size. I think the partially spotted one is cool too.

So, after reading Whiskey Bay's post I have to wonder----Are all the dark areas on the shells poop spots?

Whiskey Bay....
Thanks for sharing your pictures! Those are some big eggs!
I guess we could be in for more surprises. lol...

But to be honest, I like the little ones better, they're cute.. These big ones, although would be nice little snack, are scary.

This doesn't sound right. The digestive system and reproductive system are separate so I am not sure how feces would be on the shell....

I got one pure cream colored egg, and someone layed a shelless egg. The rest have so far been pretty normal, the first few were cream with yellow blotches instead of brown.
I've started giving them oyster shells so hopefully we wont get anymore shelless.

I'm with TriciaHowe on the feces thing. If feces could mix in with the eggs I doubt you'd see so many people eating them. Two different body systems, the only commonality is their point of exit.

From one Quail to another Quail...

Quail one: "Are you bored?"
Quail two: "Yep"
Quail one: "You wanna play some football"
Quail two: "Sure why not"
Quail one: "First one to roll ball on every bit of poo wins"
Quail three: *Poops on the egg* ... "I win"

Lol.... Mine were are pretty close in size.HUGE! They all produced large eggs,I'll see if I can find some pics of them in the trays(comp crashed and had to replace) .I did incubate and they produce very nice VERY large birds. That averaged laying in 4 1/2 -5 weeks. These came from James-Marie Farms stock some of their research and development.

The birds I have now lay big eggs but that's my own breeding. These are Jumbo Browns and whites. I had one Jumbo run out of the barn today and a chicken the same size mounted her! Talk about crazy! It a little OEGB rooster on top of a Coturnix hen! I sure hope I don't get hybrids!

But I know the farm you are talking about. I respect any farm that works on research and development so I don't feel alone

That poor Quail was probably confused..

A hybrid...lol... that's a scary thought.

I cracked the egg open this morning ... It was a double yolk, but one yolk didn't seem properly developed... looked like it was scramled into the white... so we tossed it.

Now my son is on the look out for another. lol...
