I Can't Believe This!

I agree, people are so misinformed. The kid is really mad too, maybe they will finally do something...

Haha, I think all of the hatred can go back to every little girl who was ever "attacked" by their grandmas White Leghorn rooster when they were 7 years old........god knows how many times I have heard that story from people....

I liked the question about breeding...for some folks the gene pool just ain't deep enough

Just for the record...I don't teach those things...well..sometimes...I do like to tell kids that bulls are the ones with horns

I might have done that whe I was in college also...I was a junior or senior and some freshman were sitting around talking kinda big in the ag building and I might have kinda started talking to them and might have set them up...I have always liked to start stuff

That was really harsh, inaccurate, unreasonable, and unfair. And those are the NICE words I could come up with.

I would call the principal and ask to have a sit-down, face-to-face discussion about the situation with all adults involved. Everyone should be able to reasonably bring the source of their information to the table, and as another poster said, do remind them that slander IS illegal and to be sure their information is 100% accurate. It could also be considered slander, as it was put in writing.

I am not usually one to jump straight to talking to a lawyer, but I would certainly keep it in mind as a plan B if the faculty is unwilling to discuss the inaccurate letter that was sent to you.

I wish you luck. Hopefully this will work out, and perhaps the teacher will also learn something in the process. This can have a positive outcome for all.

There is a lady on the city council that kept denying the chicken ordinance. Her parents owned a meat chicken farm and she said they stunk and were all diseased. There is actually a group called the Urban Hen Coalition that fought it. Long story short they won, but now you have to buy a $100 building permit on top of a $25 chicken permit. Who can afford that? Oh, and no butchering or selling eggs.

Well you can take solace in that she is only a substitute....that means she isnt teaching anything and is just a warm body to be in the class when the actual teacher is not there. There are some great substitutes out there dont get me wrong but alot of em are more of a problem. Dont know how many subs I have seen fired for inappropriate actions or behavior in my 14 years of teaching.

Robo, you kind of hit a point that I had forgot. There is an age group or generation that grew up on the farms decades ago and wanted nothing to do with it after they grew up. I have known alot of people like this. They disliked the whole farm atmosphere and have a distinct bias against anything agricultural....what a strange world we live in....
