I Can't Do This Anymore!!! Thor's Ship Sailed.

I'm for chicken jail. My white EE cockeral who hatched on July 4, 2008 was maddening at first. My girls haven't had a roo for some time and have become settled in their ways. Meanwhile Uno grew up into a strapping young stud with no manners. After witnessing him terrorizing my girls to the point that not even a football punt would fix, I put his butt in jail for a couple of days. Seriously I could send him sailing and he'd make an abrupt u-turn straight back for the hen I knocked him off of.
Sleeping alone for a few nights cured him. He now has manners. Although one of my hens has decided that she hates him absolutely and won't let him within a foot of her.

Aprons are a possibility. I would keep him separate but it just seems too cold. I worry about Bell the broody as it is. Everything was OK when I locked them up tonight. Tomorrow is to be warmer. I think I scared the crap out of him when I trimmed him. He won't come near me.

I took my rooster into my grooming shop and cut his nails and then used the dremel on them to smooth them out...He wasn't happy either...But we all have to do things we don't like...hehehhehe....Hope everyone is doing well in my coop and yours today!

Let everyone out this morning. They all seem OK. I have figured Thor's favorite hen is jealous. Every time he mates a different girl his fav goes after them.

It should be warmer today.

I hope you'll keep us posted on how things with Thor work out. Chicken behaviors and personalities are fascinating to me
and I'm anxious to lean about the best ways of dealing with problems like this. Thank you for sharing it with us and to the
folks who replied!

Everyone was well behaved today. I am making my presence known with Thor more. Alpha chicken thing.

He seems to be responding to the treatment.

I really don't like being the executioner unless absolutely necessary.

Grab an old potholder, slap it on the hens back. Then get some duct tape and make her a helmet. All kidding aside I feel your pain, I have a light brahma boy who is a bit overexcited with the hens but super sweet to me. I had gone back and forth about eating him verses rehoming him so I opted for more hens instead

Everyone is OK for the most part this morning. I did notice Fanny had a picked tail feather that had started to bleed. I shot some blu-coat on that right quick. The only problem was that no sooner than that spray hit her backside Thor was on top of her. Wonder if his doodle is blue??
