I can't even give this away. FREE (UPDATE) He has a new home

He he he ... If the horse can stay in my back bedroom, I'll trade you my almost teenager! If I drop the insurance on my truck and ride the horse to work.

How is the rice bran working? I just bought my first bag for our hard to keep Arabian gelding. He always looks like I am starving him. Someday someone is gonna report me

Camelot, try Beet Pulp. It is a little messy to feed but I put tons of weight on 4 broodmares that had been at a friends on pasture. One was 200 lbs underweight and she gained 100 lbs in 3 weeks. Beet Pulp here is $15 a bag, you feed about 1/2 scoop dry wet it until it floats and then let it set. I make morning up and night and vice versa. Beet Pulp has more calories than alfalfa and it is safe to feed. Rice Bran is good, but I have never had great results and a lot of times my horses did not like it. One bag of Beet Pulp lasted my 4 mares about 2 weeks.

If we can figure out a way to ship to TN, I will take him. PM me and we will see how much to trailer to here.

That is sad. I hope you can find a good home for him.
I want one but don't have a fenced area or a shelter yet.
I figure it will take me 2 years to get everything set up so I can have one.

I look on CL and drool over some of the horses and their prices. Some cheap/free and others $$$ but I do live in an area where equestrian sports are held. I wanted to take the kids to a steeple chase event the day before Easter but it didn't work out.

Where are you located? I bet I know someone that could take him off your hands if you dont live to far away from Ohio. It would be better if you could message me though.

Wish I could take him, already have 5 horses though to pay board on. Sigh. If I had my own place I would take him in a heartbeat.

You know it's funny I had him on the BST and no one wanted him. The poor guy. He is so gently. But to let you know I just talked to my DH and he said hes 4 not 3 but he just turned 4 in January.

I did recieve 2 pm's one from NY and one from MD. I will let you know how it works out. I will update my first post. Thanks everyone I would really like to see him go to someone on here because I know you are all good people. DH said no matter where he goes we will be checking up on him.

I'm sorry you are not closer to me. I am in California. I would love to take him. We have pasture and I would like a companion for my Percheron mare. But PA is a bit far for us to go get him.

Whole oats might do wonders for your horse? I put a little oil on mine like sunflower seed oil. You can put a dad of molasses on it also if the horse does not like it plain.

What a beautiful horse. The market is so tough these days.

I figure my two cost about $200 for both to feed and shoe, plus extra for the vet a couple times a year. Both are barefoot though and one is a mini so she only gets a big handful of hay twice a day. I really don't count her into my costs aside from shoeing actually because she basically picks up the scraps that my big guy would leave behind. I'm lucky that my parents have a free place for them to live for sure but the downside is no place to ride in the winter when the weather is bad. Rey-ban is retired so it's fine for him though.

I don't even want to tell you how much board is for the horse I half lease (but I will). He's moving to a new barn on May 1st and it will be $800 a month!!!

Granted the facility is literally heaven on earth for any horse person... But that is precisely why I can't afford a new competition horse of my own and I'll be sticking to leasing for the forseeable future!
