I can't even sell eggs.....

Good idea....
and...if they are fertile..... You should talk to the science teachers and ask if they are interested in hatching eggs in the classroom! The kids would have fun rotating and candling...and if you time it right you could have them hatch in the middle of the week and every kid could take home a chick:) Awww....I wish my teachers did that in my school.

Well I can`t sale my Duck Hatching Eggs because I can`t afford the Auction, because I have to Buy the Golden Feather thing. And we don`t make any money much.It did not used to be like this.So It is a mess,I used to sale eggs ,chicken eggs at my neighbor gro.store.And the feed bill got so high we just could pay ther bill sometime.

Part of the problem is the economy, at least in my area. The local walmart is selling a dozen lg. eggs for about $.80, I can't compete with that! In this area, most people are looking for the cheapest price, and who cares about quality.

I would sell -0- if it depended on a sign. We have a busy corner down the road a ways that people sell stuff at on Sundays. I go there or sell them at work! That corner is VERY popular. It's like a livestock/fowl/yard sale corner.

The problem is that people think your eggs come from a chicken's butt. They prefer eggs that come from the supermarket. Wonder where they think the supermarket eggs come from?

Just repeating some of the logic I hear.

my farmin partner and i sell the eggs to teachers at my kids school. i sell via word of mouth at the local mom and pop store. but i have to go there with eggs and hang out till people i know want them come by. thats not a problem thought cause i like to hang out there and have coffee and catch up on the local gosip. (my husband thinks i am strange cause i will just go there and have coffee and hang out after i drop the kids a school). any way I have a friend who hangs at the store who works at the local senior center. she mentioned that if we ever have eggs that we dont need (like a donation) the senior center would love to have them. I got the impression that it is a non-profit thing and you could get a tax deduction for your bussiness if you have that! local food bank might do the same thing. i like to give the eggs back to the girls when i can but sheesh we cant keep the eggs long enough between the teachers at my kids school who wants a minimum of 3 dozen a week, and the two people at the mom and pop store who want 4 dozen a week we cant keep up ( not braggin- just saying you cant sit around and hope people will come to you you gotta go to them. all the people i mentioned in here didnt know i had fresh eggs till i told them and all I did was walked up with eggs in my hand and said "Hey, wanna buy some farm fresh eggs?"

Good luck!

I have never stopped to buy FRESH EGGS, FRESH CORN, WATERMELONS, and all the other wonderful goodies I see signs for because when I'm driving to town, I'm in a hurry.
When I'm driving back home, I'm in a hurry.
When I'm driving around just for fun, I don't have cash.
When I'm driving around for fun and I have cash, I would just not in a million years go on somebody's property uninvited and I SURE wouldn't HONK. Even if they WERE standing outside waving, I'd probably STILL not stop.
If I KNEW them, I would stop.
That is the only way I would stop.
And if I knew them, I'd probably still not stop.

By the way, I HAVE the EGGS FOR SALE signs! I haven't put them out yet, though. No traffic. Why did I buy them, come to think of it???

No kids but that's a great idea for people who do.

I have stopped to buy fresh eggs, plants and watermelons from neighbors and it's not unusual for people around here to do that.

Maybe I should give it a while before I complain any more about it. My sign is large but my husband thinks it needs to be larger.

In Texas you can't sell at a farmers market type places unless you get a permit from Dept. 'o Health and you have to keep the eggs at 45 degrees or cooler while you sell them and the eggs have to be labled as "ungraded and not weighed". Unfortunately, I don't have a portable cooler. My next door neighbor who owns a restaurant does, but he probably wouldn't be too keen on loaning his stuff out without expecting something more than eggs back as payment!

(Good neighbors who we have lived next door to since 1983.)

All eggs are in the refrigerator so they are fine for the next week. After that I guess I'll feed them to the chickens if they don't sell.

I figured if nothing else people would just drive in to be nosey!
