I can't even sell eggs.....

I have a few people who get eggs from me. Usually it is from word of mouth, I don't have a sign. I have been told by a few people that they wanted fresh eggs for a long time and have see signs out here and there, but they could/would never stop. They always remark on the lines of that they would feel strange or intruding...Maybe you should put hours on the sign, that way people may feel it is more like a business than trying to guess when is the best time to stop in. Put a sign up the road a bit before and after your driveway to give them a heads up before they get right on top of your house/driveway. If its a long driveway maybe one or two humor signs to make them feel easy about coming down the drive, like a sign painted with an egg box and eggs or just a chicken. People need reassurance that they are not intruding.
When I have someone new or a few of my regulars that stop by I will let them see the chickens, some times I will even collect some eggs when they are there. I find they all usually want to see the chickens but would never ask. Then they feel more at ease. I usually give them my phone number since most like to call first before they come out. Nothing more disappointing than no one home or catching you cooking or doing yard work etc..
Try a T shirt (fabric paints work great and cheap) paint an out line chicken with an egg on the back, put your phone # on the egg and fresh eggs for sale on the back, or paint it on your reusable shopping bags. It can be a good conversation starter when your grocery shopping. I have one customer I met like that in the dairy section.
Just my few cents worth.

There's a trailer camp up the road from us. My 8 yr. old son wanted to set up a stand at the end of the driveway so that he could sell eggs to the campers. But, you can't see the end of the driveway from the house. No way, no how is my son sitting down at the end of the driveway. Too creepy to consider. And I won't just set up a stand, because there's too many people that have no concept of the honor system.

That said, I don't even have enough eggs to sell that way. I have more of a demand than supply. I really need more chickens. I currently have 10 hens, and I'm averaging 5 to 9 eggs a day. The two Polish are only laying a few times a week.

People at work have no problem paying $2.50 a dozen. My mother's friends I haven't charged. I'd like to find a chicken jar or bowl to put the chicken money in. It'd be cute to see the egg money slooowly pile up.
