I can't imagine living in the North....

Just out of curiosity, am I the only one who has been snowed in a body shop for 2 days??? The closed the state highways and even the nearest interstate (although that wouldn't be my way home anyway). The powers that be pulled all the snow plows off the roads this morning

So sorry, Christopher, that can't be much fun. Do you at least have a place to sleep, get hot food, and watch tv or something?

Ya, I'm fine. I have plenty of work to do and the local bar and grill didn't open today so I had about 20 visitors stop by for "a few cold ones". Spirits are high here! Just bored and miss home. My shop has a fridge, coffee pot, pizza oven, and a fold out couch. I'll be fine.

Thanks for asking!!!

Why would they pull the plows off the road? I only take out the 4 WD truck with weights and snow tires in a storm if I have too and I tend to get around these mountains. But why would they pull the plows off the roads? Last time that happened here in PA was in January 1995. We got hit with a Nor'easter -- 3+ FEET. Governor declared emergency and we were ordered off the roads (although we took the Jeeps out 4 wheeling - FUN)

In all honesty, there is no where to put the snow. They blade it off to the side, but the roads just keep getting narrower. They need a few days to get caught up, get some dozers out there, and push it back a few hundred feet. Right now in town, when you pull up to a stop sign in a car or even a pickup truck, you can't see over the snow banks. The snow is up to the signs! I haven't seen anything like this in about 15 years.

Another reason, the economy. The DOT has pretty much capped how many hours the plow drivers can put in. 8 hrs a day here in Brown County. I doesn't matter how much we get, no O.T. for these guys. (good for us tax payers but it sucks to get around)

ETA: Put it this way, they called school off for tomorrow at about 8:00 pm. They know they aren't going to get this mess cleaned up for another day

I didn't realize you guys had that much snow, I guess I'll count my blessing with the 10" on the ground and the freezing cold
