The chick I helped out was all sticky too. I didn't clean it off and now I wish I did. They are 4 weeks old now and although he/she is growing fine and just as big as all the other's she still has very little feather's on her back. She is quiet bare back there. I believe it is because I didn't clean he/she off ofter having to help it hatch and the other's would just keep pecking at the sticky stuff on it back. That is just my opinion.

WOW - just want to say I think you did a phenominal job with this chick, and THANKS so much to whoever took all the fantastic pics - DH? This is part of the reason I love this forum so much! You learn SO awfully much, and a picture is worth 1,000 words! Congrats, and I hope he/she does really well! Would love to see some pics of it's splinted feet when you're done with it! Such a learning experience!
