my 3 little chicks are a week old now .....

one of my neghobors found one on the OUTSIDE of the fence! That was all I need to kidnap them and bring them in to raise. I kind of feel bad cause mama was doing a good job. I am just a big old worry wart. They are my first to hatch out under my first broody that was my first chicken! So they are really reALLY SPECIAL! However now they are screeming their heads off! And I am sure mom is haveing a melt down in the yard! But I am having a bigger melt down! Worring about her and them.

Just bring the mama in with them. I always let the broody raise the babies, but to keep the babies safe (and keep mama from stressing) I usually put the whole family in my old chick brooder outside (without a heat lamp). That way the babies are safe, mama is happy and I don't have to deal with the stink and mess inside.

I dont really have an outside thing... I have them in an in door rabbit cage right now...... I wonder is she would be happy in the house with them in this cage?
