I could cry. HELP!

This is our first experience with Muscovy ducks. Mommy laid 30 eggs and 20 hatched. She led them all today off to the pond today leaving 10 unhatched behind. As we collected the unhatched eggs to candle we could hear one still chirping inside her egg. Knowing mommy wouldn't be returning we helped the process along by opening the egg up to give her a second change and brought her in the house. She seems stong as we keep her wrapped up in a dish towel keeping her warm. It's only day one. What should we do with her in a couple days? Return her to her flock? We read to boil the unfertilized eggs and feed them as nutrients. What chance does this baby have? It so said seeing a large bird steal one of the babies. Out of the 16 I read we will be lucky if 2 survive the first few weeks. They have a better chance if we caged them. Is my Info correct?

Label it Muscovy Ducks need help

I let the chickens set on the eggs, though have an incubator.. Doubt seriously any harm has been done that nature can not fix.. That being said, I know that one. More than one miscarriage.. My wives, and still think about whom we lost.. not that this helps, but it might help you come to grips. Certainly mourning with you.. Lol is curious, but we all deal with grief in different manner.. Better laugh than cry, but I'm a guy and I'm not laughing. Sorry

Yeah, that info seems wrong. I would NOT recommend you feeding your ducks those eggs, unfertilized ones are full of bacteria that can make your ducks sick and fertilized ones... that is just not right, "balut" is not for ducks. I seriously recommend that you make your own thread and ask around. I bury the leftover eggs after 2 days that we are 100% positive that they are dead. You do not want to accidentally boil a late blomer.

@Ladobaze
I think that they might be fine. One day one of my broodies must have got too excited or something and wanted to stay outside for like hours. The eggs were cool to the touch when I noticed. I grabbed her and put her in the nesting box and blocked it, she settled down and sat on the eggs. Half of them hatched. I'm wishing you luck that your little guys survive! They can take so so long to hatch. I'd say that you wait a few days, raise the humidity, and hope for the best. Don't bother the eggs and step back. :hugs

We’ve actually had FIVE stillborn babies. Awful. The last one was just recently. I told my husband “well, seems I can’t incubate humans OR chicks”. Lol. Laughter is def the best medicine. Thanks for your comment :)

Wow.. That's some rough stuff, don't know how you do it. Take care best you can.. Don't think I could and have lost adult children. You are a better person than I.. Thought I was tough. You're amazing.. Good luck with your chicks, ducklings or whatever they call a goose hatchling.:hugs

WE'VE GOT A PIP!!!! Now hopefully theres no shrink wrapping or drowning because my incubator temp and humidity indicator is very wrong I think, and I dont fully trust my hydrometer. *cross fingers*
A amazing Lady, think you will be fine with the chicks. After they pip it could take awhile, possibly up to 24 hours.
