We were candling our eggs the other day and I walked away for a bit to get a glass of water. I came back to him marking the eggs with a G (for good) and B (for bad) with a Sharpie marker.....ARGH! Could we have ruined the hatch?

hey i'm a bad hubby to i did that to our 1st hatch my hatch was bad 5 out of 24 shipped but i dont think the sharpie was the culprit just inexperience.

Whew, ok, I guess I can tell him he can come out of the doghouse now

Im on day 19 today and nothing yet, crossing my fingers!

I was silly though, Im going to have to juggle the chicks, I have chicken on one side and quail that were added two days later, hoping my timing is good so that the chickens will be done and that'll be time to lock down the bator again to get the quail to hatch.....I'll never do this again!

I just hatched 17 out of 23 eggs, every single one marked with Sharpie. I always use Sharpie. I never use pencil, especially under hens, it rubs off. And it's harder to see. I like to be able to see the marks I make. Sometimes, by the time an egg hatches, it has all kinds of marks on it. They still hatch just fine.

Let hubby off the hook, and tell him you're sorry you got mad!

Oh I'm not really mad, he's done worse! lol.......It was my funny way of asking if it was ok. Getting a little paranoid here and crossing my fingers that the hatch turns out good. I have 13 out of 16 that were good when we candled and I have 30 little quail eggs bouncing around like popcorn!
