You might have stumbled across either a sex-link or another auto-sexing with that match. You could hatch more from those 2 parents and see if your results are the same. Also, it would be interesting to see if those 2 chicks could grow up and produce the same.

Can you tell me if the barring is dominant? I noticed today 6 of 9 of my chicks are starting to show barring.

The Wyandottes will produce chicks with rose combs (wedge shape). The Easter Egger and Brahma will both produce pea comb chicks. The Brahma and the Faverolle will produce chicks with feathered legs. The red sexlinks usually have dominant white, so you can eliminate those hens as a possibility. The Black sexlink hen is the most likely mother for most of those chicks.

I crossed a cream legbar (roo) with a buff orpington, auracauna, barnevelder and a splash mystery (maran?) and got this cute pile of chicks!

In this shot they are 2 days old. Updated pictures to come!

Minky, junebuggena, flyingmonkeypoop,anyone else want to play 'too much info'? It all started so crazy... forward 1 year to April 2018 and still crazy...... I had an Cream Crested Legbar Roo, so I thought (he has iridesent tail feathers, barred ones just began on sides, and white in front of them on tail) that was making my think maybe really to molt, but I don't really know. Plus is he to red/orange on his feather by front legs for CCLB?).. and willow on a chicks foot. The blacks chicks look different. If they are both from a different Copper french maran hen wouldn't they still look the same? I guess it's always possible a black sex link that looked the the CFM got in the mix, but don't think so). Now having doubts, maybe olive egger (even know I see a crest on one). Duh.. how will I be able to tell EE chicks from full CCLR (if that's what they are) chicks? Who can solve my mystery, bonus appreciation for extra info on any pics posted. Here are the facts. My notes are not complete enough. working on fixing that. Could have sworn my first 3 that came from a blue egg were CCLR x CCLh(hen)/or the RIR/+ Novagen & extras hatch. Family telling me I'm wrong so I posted their current pics last (3 of them + one from 3-17) just in case only if extra input is necessary (pics before pics of roo in question at bottom) .... so try again but let me make it harder on myself. put CCLR in with CCLH, BFCM (silly me, not sexable, should have used something a little lighter in color), also hens included, guessing atleast EE or two but not sure - just getting that from egg colors they laid w/Roo in question (diff shade of blue than cream bar), and I guess to cover all bases for you mystery solvers, and other hens could have crept in but I really don't think so.) So here's pics. 1st possible hen in batch that isn't cclb. 2nd one of cclb hens to left backwards. Pic 3 (Big winter hangout).... The handsome Cockerel/Roo in question in middle, the rest 1 day old pics of offspring formerly mentioned (in with buff orpingtons- no problems there). Now... I have other chicks too, from different hatch(es) - previous to this one, but started separating by egg color before hatching to try to figure it out. I'm still not positive, I want to know what this guy is, without hopefully waiting for laying. I want to make every color of the rainbow I also have some other Roos but they were not near the hens for 3 weeks or longer before we bred. Lastly, I contacted the 2 places I could have gotten him. One (although I don't think they considered it to be an OE because their OE do not look like that) said it was an CCLB the other said OE (creambar w/welsummer - what would I need to beed with to test that and tell the difference by the chicks, not the eggs they lay?)). Finally, He seems older, but unless I'm missing info, 9-11-17 would have been his hatch date if he was the CCLB and prob earlier if OE. Pics are mostly from March 2018 forward to three weeks ago). Well, if you're still reading this, you deserve a cup of coffee! Thank you to anyone who can help (yes I also know I need a better understanding of genetics and am working on it. People on here are always so helpful. I hope I can return the favor often).

I had my Splash Australorp hen in with the Crested Cream Legbars, and the cockerel that recently has gotten his sex drive in has been breeding with her. The eggs from her was showing fertility, so I have put 6 of her eggs in the incubator to have a hatch date on my birthday May 17th.

That would be cool! our first hatch came on my daughter 10th b-day. Of course the first one is named after her. Should look interesting! I love Splashes. I read through this thread and some people had great splash mix photos! Hope you have a successful hatch!

Thank you! It was easy to tell what eggs were laid by Precious because of the egg color.
