Well yea ……. we started out with 4 then 2 more. Now out the starter 4- 3 are roosters so we ordered 10 more but...…. we may get 11 in the box all Hens so its good. Also the 6 chicken coop we have we needed to make bigger, so we ordered a 8x8 wood shed to turn into a coop. Sooo think that will be big enough? They also have a 10x10 run outside the shed. Well if your going to do it, do it right. Thanks Block

We started with 6 chicks & 6 ducklings. We now have 45 chickens, 16 ducks & 4 turkeys. My husband is not to be trusted at the feed store unattended. Our coop is 8'.8"x16' and 8' high. They have a run as well. Good luck with your chicken math!

Nice I am going to do a painted floor maybe a spray in rubber coated floor then cover it with bedding. Install roosting bars all over and around 6-7 nesting boxes. Also have to cut a hole in the back so the chicks can go in and out.

Awesome! This coop was a run in shelter for horses. I hadn't used it in over a year and the baby chicks needed to get out of my house! We altered the shelter into a coop for them. We haven't put any nesting boxes in yet due to nobody being old enough to lay yet.
The floor in this coop is DG covered by shavings and arena sand at the water end. Easy clean up for me.
We also built a brooding house so we didn't have to have any more chicks inside. It is attached to the coop, it is doubling as a transition coop. I absolutely love it.

How do you keep people from noticing how many you have?

So how many chickens are you anticipating to have in total? The coop holds around 16, but the run really could use more space. 10 sq ft per bird in the run is the minimum recommendation, personally I feel that's too small so going above that really can help stop behavioral issues before they happen.
