Great to know. Can't wait to get them, I was so nervous to order them.If it is just a tiny zip tie, toenail cutters work good for cutting them ... some are spiral plastic that you can unwind, some are small rubber bands ...

I will be less stressed when they hatch, then ship, then get here health, then make it a week; month; etc. Ever since I lost my first chick since raising chickens I worry myself to death. It is stressful the first time but I'm delighted it worked out for you and you'll feel more confident next time.
Thank you! I actually picked two different breeds but they pushed off my delivery date till September!! So I changed breeds a couple times, but am happy with my choices.Congrats on your new babies !!! They are beautiful breeds you've chosen ❤
They never asked if I want the post office to call, when or how do I go about that? Oh I have a strange feeling our local post office hasn't had to many chicks in the mail episodes lmao. Can't wait for that day!Oops! I didn't read carefully.
You'll get a heads up from the hatchery that they've shipped. Your phone # will be on the package so the local post office can call you if you request that they do that so you can pick them up immediately. Or you can request that they be delivered to your home.
I stopped in to my busy urban post office as soon as I got the estimated arrival date to alert them and ask for the phone call. On one occasion I got a sympathetic clerk who said she would make it her personal business to be sure I got the call as quickly as possible. On another I got some jaundiced guy who said "you think we don't handle these things all the time???". No matter I always got live and lively chicks.
I'll tell you one thing, it's a hoot to pick them up at the PO cause they'll be chirping their little hearts out and everyone in line will simply turn into masses of jelly! And then you'll get them home and they'll do fine and you'll be on your way to free breakfast.
This is true! When I picked up mine, I was told I could come and get them before the post office officially opened since they were there. I walked in and a man cleaning up gruffly said, "We're not open yet." I said I had been told I could come early to pick up my chicks. He burst into a smile and said, 'Oh! The chicks!! They're peeping up a storm back there. I'll get someone right away!"Oops! I didn't read carefully.

I called the local post office and told them they were coming and gave them my number even though the hatchery gave it to them too.
