OMG I am SOOOO Excited! YAY ME!!! so they're a TEENY off lining up but... I'll get better as I go along - given its my first time EVER - I dont think I did too bad!

this was made with a tie as the center, jeans are the grey and blue suit pants are the outer corners.

1 3.5 x 24 inch strip of each fabric (and using 1 tie taken apart) made six 9 block patches!

I'll have to get better pics using my dig camera (reminds self to charge batteries) but... this works for now!

Great job!!!!! I know that will become a very cherished quilt when it is done!!!! I made what I call our picnic quilt from some of my husband's old Air Force BDU's. The kids adore it and snuggle up with it sometimes when they start wanting Dad home.

Very nice. My denim quilt I finished today was made with used skirts and jumpers that were not being worn.

Great idea. Maybe you can get a picture printed onto a piece of fabric and sew it into the middle of the quilt. Maybe a pic of Dad and Mom together. I have seen this done for a wedding and they are gorgeous.

Please post a pic of the finished quilt.

Off to get started on another one myself. It's raining like crazy so I can't go and do anything outside.

Thanks y'all

I did get much better as the day progressed - I got better at lining up the squares and pinning so now they all line up correctly! I managed to get 18 completed blocks done (3 different patterns) yesterday - working on my 4th today then will start putting together more colors/fabrics for more blocks.

Wow - who knew putting together colors would be soooo hard? I didnt realize the thought that goes into the color choices, which colors look best together - its especially hard to do with the ties as the center points.

I collect antique quilts and have probably 50 of them -some are pristine and some are in various states of needed repair; I've repaired *hand sewn* some of them and boy do I appreciate the work and time that went into those - I cannot imagine doing this by hand! I have one postage stamp quilt and HOLY COW - 1 inch blocks are soooooooooooo not my thing, and all by hand!

Amazing women back then.. and amazing women now who continue the tradition of quilting.

I only pray I can be that great at this one day as all of you are.

HennysMom, I don't htink it is greatness.....It has to be patience and love to do this. You will get better with each piece you sew onto another. Give it time.
