I did NOT set about keeping chickens willingly! NO no no I said ...

Bwahaha! Yup. How something so small and demanding can take over ... well, kinda sounds like my kids! They weren't planned either!

I don't think we had any part in your chicken addiction. Blame it all on Chica. I have it all on good information that Chica painted her eggs blue because she knew you would fall for that. Chickens can be very sneaky so be prepared for anything. You will no doubt come across the "stealth" cockerels that pretend they are pullets until you fall in love with them and then start belting out ear splitting crows. Whoops, think I wasn't supposed to tell you that. My bad.

Glad you joined us. if you read my first post a few days ago this is my second round with chickens . the first time was when are children was small. they were so noisy and somewhat aggressive. you defiantly did not go in without gloves to the elbows the really thick ones. We won't even discuss the rooster. I let my husband deal with him. The ones we have now other than ( for a lack of a better word ) are gentle and they coooh at me that's a new word. no fighting between them and they will have a verbal scrummage every now and then but don't get physical with each other. I don't even know they are around . Which could be dangerous. Would not want to forget to go check on them or not feed them or water them. It makes me think of our cats when they are sitting in my lap and purring.

I ran her out of the back yard 3 times and she kept sneakin' back eating my garden. The 4th day I found a pretty blue egg and told her she could stay! I do believe I've been adopted and brainwashed by that little feathery devil - 6 more chicks have found their home here via the feed store. Walked in looking for feed and walked out with a box o'chicks. How do they do that?!

Hi guys - coming out to thank you all for the guidance I gleaned from BYC. You helped keep Chicka alive and thriving, showed me how to build a brooder and coop and I blame you along with Chicka for turning me into a fool for chickens!

I'm hoping to be able to pay it forward some time and help along others who get drafted into chicken servitude ;)
Ha Ha.Too funny. Those blue [and green] eggs will get you every time.Welcome to BYC!
