I do not like Green Eggs and Ham...

I love anything and everything by Roald Dahl. He does a great job of including some big vocabulary while still having a GREAT story to keep the little ones entertained. I've read my 4-year-old everything he's ever written!

As for Dr. Seuss - she loves him, but I'm making her start reading some of his books to me now - most are great early reader books. Her favorite is the Butter Battle Book.

Oh how I used to hate all those kids books when my oldest three were young and now that my soon to be 8 yr old son still wants me to read to him I could only be so lucky to read one of those books to him. However nice that would be no I will be reading military vehicles books like The Hummer, B52 Bombers, and Submarines and all the other army, navy, and marine books.

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ So boring

That is all he wants to read about. When he was lil (er) he loved car books. Maybe I sound like a bad Momma but I have no interest in vehicles of any kind. I don't even like to drive them.

The Reading Mother
I had a mother who read to me
Sagas of pirates who scoured the sea.
Cutlasses clenched in their yellow teeth;
"Blackbirds" stowed in the hold beneath.
I had a Mother who read me lays
Of ancient and gallant and golden days;
Stories of Marmion and Ivanhoe,
Which every boy has a right to know.
I had a Mother who read me tales
Of Gelert the hound of the hills of Wales,
True to his trust till his tragic death,
Faithfulness lent with his final breath.
I had a Mother who read me the things
That wholesome life to the boy heart brings-
Stories that stir with an upward touch.
Oh, that each mother of boys were such!
You may have tangible wealth untold;
Caskets of jewels and coffers of gold.
Richer than I you can never be --
I had a Mother who read to me.

I loved reading to my daughter. Good times, gone too quick.
Those books put away now, others in their place. Part of her
growin up.

Dr. Suess was in that list. Along with a host of others. The David books,
Clack clack, moo, I'm falling apart....

Her favorite was Because of Winn Dixie. Still on the shelf today.

Reading to her is a great memory.

Don't get me wrong I have always loved reading to my kids and step grandkids it is just when it comes to Ethan our interests our from two different sides of the fence. He loves the things I can't stand, but he will never know that I just listen to him and read to him and watch him play baseball and cheer him on with a smile.

But I would take Green eggs and Ham any day!
