I really like the duck eggs because the yolks are so much bigger. One of my favorite meals is fried eggs on either toast or hash brown potatoes. The best part is that yummy yolk. And when I flip the egg in the pan, it seems like the duck egg yolks don't break as easily as the chicken eggs do.

So do the have a strong odd flavor or just like a chicken egg with more yolk?

Taste wise, I can't tell the difference between duck and chicken eggs. Duck eggs have a slightly different texture when they're scrambled, they're not quite as fluffy. And the yolks seem a little richer. I had several people tell me duck eggs weren't very good so I was happily surprised to find out that isn't the case. Then again, my ducks get a top notch diet, which I'm sure plays a big factor in egg quality. I actually never thought about duck eggs when I first got ducks. I just wanted them as pets and they proved to be such funny characters that provided so much entertainment, that now I've got eight of them. And the tasty eggs are just a nice bonus!

Thank you all! I picked the puppy up today. And like we talked about EggSighted4Life I held him and just knew. My daughter did not go with us since she was at her dads, but she knew that I was going to look at them so it will be a surprise for her when she comes home tomorrow. I am getting more ducks for the only female. I have 6 females that are shipping from Metzer on Monday. The boys will not be butchered until the other 6 are large enough to start putting them with the other female, pending that they dont start mating and getting violent with her. The puppy on the other hand is amazing. I've walked him by our ducks and brought him with me to the chicken coop and he glances at them and then just turns away with no interest. The real test will be when I let the chickens out to free range around the yard. But lucky for me the people I got him from had a mini farm with chickens ducks and geese so he was exposed to them.

Thank you!! Im excited as well. I know it will be awhile before I can let him outside with the chickens and expect results, but for now I'm trying to get my chickens on a feeding schedule (hopefully) to help with everything that way they arent out of the coop when I go to work. And he gets interaction time with them so hopefully they wont be bothered by him. Im not really worried about him with them, took him with me to feed the girls mid afternoon yesterday and he just sat outside the coop despite the noise they were making. Didnt try to get in to get them or anything. I was a proud puppy parent.

The good thing is right now he's just curious playful pup. He should be well adjusted the way you are working with him. And by the the time the guard instinct kicks in it will include protecting your fowl.

I wonder, you seem willing to put in lots of effort for your animals... have you tried using ferment feed as a means of saving $? It is supposed to increase nutrient absorption and probiotics. And the difference in the poo is incredible, it still smells but not as bad and is mostly formed. The chickens love it and it isn't a lot of extra work. If you don't already do it, I highly recommend it.

Thank you. I actually started a batch of fermented feed last week and started feeding the animals it on Friday. So far with 3 days in it doesnt look like theres a dent in it. I'm happy so far with that. I cant wait for the duckies to show up. I'm going through the withdrawals. I cant wait to see how this adventure turns out with him. Thank you for all of your support.
