I don't like my eggs :( ???

my DH doesn't like mine either. here is a hint for scrambled eggs.... add a pinch of Bisquick, cuts the strong flavor a bit, makes a big difference.

you'll get used to them.

Nope, my girls get their lay crumble, and get to free range about 2-3 x a week, and that's it. Nothing special really.
I also had some leghorns, but I don't like the birds themselves. I am looking into Minorcas who lay white eggs and dorkings. But I pretty much feel they will be the same.
I did have cheese in it....but next time I will add onions and see if that helps...like do an omelete type of thing and slowly back it down to just my regular old scrambled eggs and see if I can get used to them

It's just shocking b/c I'm not a picky eater & I didn't think this would be a problem! But as long as the kids like them it's all good really

well the thing is your not used to fresh eggs yet.an until you eat them all the time you wont be.fresh eggs are darker because the freerange hens have access to buggs worms an grass.the hens that lay the eggs in the store on a controlled feed.an that feed controls the color of the egg an the way it taste.

This is an interesting thread! I have yet to get any eggs from my young chickens, but I'm worried about not getting used to the flavour, too. When my family switched from regular milk to free-range organic milk, I was expecting it to taste better but I actually MISSED the blander conventional milk! It took me a year before I actually got used to it. Now I'll even drink an actual glass of it, not just put it in my coffee.

I guess I'll just go slow. And not feed them too many garlicy scraps--thanks for that tip!

My hens are all still to young to lay eggs, but I will tell you this. With the price of eggs at the grocery store, I am going to learn to like the "yard eggs"!!!

Someone posted a link to some nutritional information about eggs from a study done by Mother Earth News, I think it was. It was amazing how much more nutritious they were. If someone knows that link, please post it. That should help you get used to the different taste and texture.

I would be so disappointed!

I was raised on real eggs, so store bought eggs make me sad. Which is the excuse I used to convince boyfriend to let me keep the babies I bought

Try mixing 1/2 store bought w/ 1/2 hen house eggs when you scramble. The store bought ones will "dilute" yours. Then try gradually increasing the # of your eggs in your scramble.

I'm glad the kids liked them at least!

The difference in taste was surprising but we all loved it. I think where I really noticed the difference was when I made deviled eggs, they were so much creamier and tasted AMAZING. I made a batch of 16 deviled eggs for a bbq and never even got the container on the table, they were devoured before I could even set it down, people couldn't believe how good they were. I was so proud of my girls but slightly embarrased that I didn't bring more.

I hope you do develope a taste for them, they are so much better for you then store bought.

Well, my DH doesn't care for eggs no matter where they come from. And as far as the taste I really can't tell the difference but we had both growing up. My DD on the other hand had a hard time getting them down, mainly b/c I said I killed my babies when I cracked them

. She wasn't thrilled at all. I love eggs and now that I have seen a commercial egg layers enviroment, I know I do not want to give them anymore of my money.
