I don't think I'm meant to have EE's.

First I bought a hen from someone but no colored eggs so I got rid of her, Then I bought some chicks that were EEs and my DH left the coop door open and my dachshoud got the only pullets. Then I got some eggs and only one hatched under my BO. Then the only little survivor found a bucket of rain water and the poor thing drowned. So I don't think I'm meant to have them and I really wanted the colored eggs too.

When you buy EEs, you usually never know what color eggs the will be, as EEs can lay any color egg - and the farther outbred from the blue genes they are, the less likely chance that they will lay "colored" eggs.


Im sorry, however, for all of your losses. I will have F1 ameraucana cross hatching eggs later (guaranteed colored eggs), as I just got a roo.


They are definately worth it, though! I love my girls and they are great chooks. Are there any chicken sales in your area? sometimes, you can catch them there - but usually alot of people want them.

We are just getting ready to put some EE eggs in the bator. Have a broody setting on 12 EE eggs that should hatch any day. The ones under the broody might be spoken for, have to call the gentleman and see if he still wants them. The ones going in the bator there is a first pick on those but he only wants a couple. If you want EE's we can throw in a few extra eggs for you. Green eggs. PM me if interested.

. I can't do a hatch on my own right now because I just loaned out my incubator to a friend whos ducks were killed last night and they are going to try and hatch eggs that they had laid.

If I were to ever want colored eggs I'd definitely go with someone like you who produces gauranteed, F1, colored eggers rather than someone who might be selling barnyard mutts that might or might not carry a colored egg genes.

Until I read the "why do my EE's lay brown and white eggs?" threads on here I thought that EEs were expected to produce 100% colored eggs and, had I bought any that didn't, I'd have expected a refund and been ready to report the situation to the Better Business Bureau.

I have now learned that the accepted definition of EE is a barnyard mutt with a chance of possibly producing colored eggs, but I think that situation stinks.

Thanks. You see, as much as I love ameraucanas, what most people are looking for are just the colored eggs - and I can guarantee that. In fact, Im diversifieng (sp?) my flock so that the resulting chicks should lay some blue, mint, and olive eggs. Most will probably lay green eggs.

Yeah. It does - that along with the whole confusion of EasterEggers being mixed up with Ameraucanas, and even those being confused with Araucanas. I've made a video about that and I'm going to post it on my YouTube page tonight. You've given me a good idea - I'll make a video about EasterEggers and what to look for and so on. Thanks for the idea!!!
