why would you want to do that to the chicks?
if it was for ID reasons would it not be easier to mark the shell with a pencil or some sore of veggie based wax crayon that wont harm the chick during incubation?

If you are against this why get on her thread? It is not against the law in her state, food coloring is not toxic, and when you vacinate a chick you put it in the egg just like she did.

I was on the thread to see what her hatch rate was and out of curiousity. If it's a risk she's willing to take - they're her birds, they certainly are cute.
