I enjoy my chickens so much..Is that wrong? What are your favorites?

I love when I race out of work at 4:30 to get home and before I even go in the house and check on the cat and hubby I go down to the coop to see how many eggs, and to make sure all is ok. It just makes my day. When I get to go down first thing in the morning before work and make sure eveyone got outside ok, has fresh water, move the feeders outside for them and drop off any treats for the day. I dont care how cold or snowy or how LATE I actually am running. I cant get my day started without a little bit of 'Bird and the Fluffy Butts luv!!!! :love

Couldn't agree more! They are such a JOY aren't they?!?!?!

So glad for this post!

My son (18) tells me every other day how much he loves his birds. It's so sweet (especially considering he's 6'6" and has this deep, manly voice).

My husband, who agreed to chickens at first only for our son's sake, now daily proclaims his great admiration as well. It has been quite the bonding experience for those two. They built the coop together and are constantly discussing chicken care, etc. They recently spent a weekend putting up a very large net to keep hawks out of the run. Chicken therapy...who knew?

Chickens are awesome.

Very sad to say we lost one of our chickens yesterday to a predator. We are not sure what killed Squirt our Silver Laced Wyandotte. We think it could have been a weasel. It was my daughters first chicken. We buried her in the garden, So yesterday her boyfriend Liam and I got her another chicken while she was at school. We got her a baby Americana.Which was suppose to be mine but Rebecca fell in love with her. She named her Flounder. We also got a Dark Brahma whom we named Betty Boop( Liams chick) We fixed the problem and hope no more chickens die.

I think that is so sweet about your son and husband bonding over the chickens. It is a lot of fun to watch and care for them. My daughter who is 16 and her boyfriend 18 also enjoy the chickens. My husband doesn't care for them but he does like watching them and helps us with building coops and pens.
