I feel bad.....

One of my girls was not looking too good 2 days ago, but since they often pick up again, I left her alone. Yesterday she was far worse, so I gave her a bath , massaged her and oiled her vent, then put her to bed. She was dead this morning when I went out and when I checked her innards, she had obviously been laying internally and there was a real mess inside her, poor thing. Just wish I had known and culled her the day before rather than stressing her giving her a bath etc.....

I'm so sorry. I know how you feel. I love all my chickens with a passion, yet the stupid things I've done that have caused them pain and cost them their little lives would fill a small book. Someone ought to warn chickens that the human learning curve can be hazardous to their health.

Thank you azygous. Thinking about it more calmly now, I think that if the same situation occurred again, I would take the same steps that I did, so I shall now stop beating myself up about it.....
