It seems everyone but me knows the breed of their babies! I got mine at Tractor Supply and asked everyone in the store........they didn't know either....so frustrating!

When will I be able to tell what breed they are?

Around here, TS has the chickies separated and labeled. Somebody has to at least know what was ordered. Southern States puts them all in the same bin but has a little booklet of the breeds they ordered and pictures of what they should look like so you can pick the ones you want. It's hit or miss with similar breeds, but at least they know what breeds should be in the bin.

There are pictures of chicks in the chicken breeds index:

If you can, like kcote said, post some pics and somebody here is likely to recognize what they are or at least narrow it down to what they could be.

Orpingtons, perhaps. I'm not sure how many breeds might look like that at this age and would be found in a Tractor Supply, but Orpingtons are a definite possibility.

Sure glad it's not just here that they have no clue!! I asked one time and one time only about breeds. The lady handed me a book with about 50 different breeds in it and said, "It's one of those!" Seriously???

I don't know who orders them but I am pretty sure someone puts in an order for x amount of leghorns, x amount of orphingtons etc.... but noone can figure it out when they get there. Gotta love it. I have two that I somehow ended up with(looong story) from Big R. I have no clue what they are either!!!

I agree I think there BOrpingtons, wish the pictures were a bit closer? are they yellow or are they creamy buff colored? Kim

these chicks are white though... and I doubt a TSC would carry white orpingtons. I'm guessing a white leghorn
