Can anyone on here give me a list of items I will need to go with the electric charger?
Wire size or names , will I need a flip shut off switch ?
Thanks .........

I would contact animal control or the local law enforcement about the dog and the ones not being cared for properly.

Aside from that...you do what you must to protect your birds...if it means dispatching the dogs on your property...do it.

You will need plastic insulators to attach to your posts and wire...any hardware place can advise you on the gauge of wire to use. I bought an off and on switch adaptor for mine so that I wouldn't have to plug and unplug it when I wanted to disengage the electric. Read the instructions carefully that come with the charger...it should explain to you about how to run your wire and about grounding instructions.

The wire and adaptors are not expensive.

predators are always in the equation.... good fencing, good reliable well trained guard dogs helps and so is a properly sighted gun...

We have 3 dogs that run with our other animals, any predators entering my place will be greeted by me and my gun if they're lucky, or by the dogs if they're not so lucky....

Thanks for the advice I will probably go to the hardware store and see maybe home depot can explain to me best way I think maybe if I measure the fence line that is around my coop and pen will probably help them decide which is best for us. I would like to go with the solar I know its a bit more expensive but in the long run it will save on my electric bill. We will probably need to cut the brush down around the fence that I had let grow up so animals couldn't see the chickens ha for me thinking it would...I thought if I took the visual temptation away there would be none thats what I did with my Ameircan Bulldogs, they can't see the chickens ever so there is no temptations. I don't have to worry about the front yard chickens never try going there so its between my house and the goat yard that needs more protection.

I will post an update with pictures as soon as I get things set up.......
Thanks everyone for the advice...

We bought an electric wire system from our feed store. It has been enough year I don't remember the details, but I will try and ask DH the next time I talk to him. I know that we had one that worked off of solar panel.

OMG! Where do you live that the sherrif tells your neighbor that it's okay that he shoots you if you knock on his door? This is all too wrong! It's ok by local ordanaces that people are running around shooting dogs, and okay to shoot each other? I would be very afraid! And I would move. This sounds a little to horror story like! Yes, I would just move, life is better elsewhere. You have the right to enjoy your chickens!
