One of mine had a mild case of pasty butt, but instead of all the soaking, I used a pair of small pliers to CRUSH...NOT PULL the dried poo. It crushed easily into small particles that just fell away like dust. These were very delicate small pointed pliers, a tweezer would probably work. I repeat, I didn't PULL the poo, just pinched the poo, making sure not to get too close in that I was in danger pf pinching the chick. That cleared it enough to allow normal passage and that was the end of it...chick is fat, fluffy and soon to lay now as a healthy pullet.
